When people think about staying cool, they think about the air conditioner. But on a summer afternoon in Miami, the attic above your ceiling can get far hotter than the air outside, and that heat is pressing down on every room in the house.
Insulation is what slows that heat down. In many older Hialeah and Miami homes, the original insulation has settled, been disturbed by past work, or was thin to begin with. When it's too thin, ceilings warm up, the ducts running through the attic heat the air before it reaches the rooms, and the AC runs longer to compensate.
Bringing attic insulation up to a proper, even depth is usually a one-day job, and it's one of the most cost-effective comfort upgrades available. It pairs especially well with a new AC system, since a new unit will run shorter cycles and last longer when it isn't fighting a hot attic.
When we insulate, we work around the ductwork and air handler so nothing gets crushed or buried, and we keep access clear for future service. If you're replacing your AC, ask us to check the attic at the same visit.
